BCCI has its  a road again ; FICA dumped from ICC awards

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), once again, had its road in the matters of the International Cricket Council (ICC). The Indian board has succeeded in de-linking the Federation of International Cricketers Association (FICA) from the ICC awards. BCCI was success in stalling a move to universalise DRS.Indian players have been boycotting the awards all these years. Barring the odd occasion when the function was held in Bangalore (2010), the Indian players generally gave the event a skip.
“The announcement was made by the ICC chief executive, David Richardson, at the media conference to announce the shortlists for the LG ICC Awards 2012."
FICA is recognised by only five of the 10 full members of the ICC. England, Australia, South Africa, New Zealand and West Indies recognise it but India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe spurn it.

Andrew Strauss  bow out  from International Cricket

England skipper Andrew Strauss retired from international cricket August 29, 2012. England cricket team has been in news for wrong reasons for quite a while now, since Kevin Pietersen's retirement, following his desire to play World T20 and the text messages row that damaged his relationship with the team members and the Board.
After his team lost to South Africa 0-2 in the home series as Graeme Smith's men became the No 1 Test side in the World.
Strauss who led his side in 50 Tests, played his 100th Test against South Africa at Lords as England witnessed a humiliating 0-2 defeat to give up their No 1 position as South Africa became World's No 1 Test team.
Strauss said, thanked all the coaches and support staff, Middlesex and England team mates for helping him during his international stint spanning 10 years. Strauss said he was very fortunate to play in an era which saw some greatest moments in the history of England cricket.
"There are too many people who have helped me on this incredible journey to mention them all by name, but I would like to thank all the Middlesex and England players I have played alongside, as well as the phenomenal coaches and support staff with whom I have been fortunate enough to work."

ICC Test team of the year will be announced on Thursday morning. Who do you think will be part of the team?

According to me South Africa because South Africa becomes the first team ever to hold number one ranking in all three formats at the same time.SOUTH Africa became the world’s top ranked team in all three forms of cricket after Hashim Amla’s 150 led the Proteas to an 80-run thrashing of England in the second ODI on Tuesday. South Africa replaces England as the top ODI team after the hosts collapsed to 207 all out, chasing South Africa’s 287 for five at the
Rose Bowl.

World champions in junior and senior cricket! How cool is that!

Google Image

What a knock by India under19 captain Unmukt Chand. Brilliant his partnership with Smit Patel defining great show boy feel so proud.
Its was a Great day for India under19 and senior player. Today we enjoy twice it was first time i ever experience two enjoyment in Cricket in my whole life.
spin duo of R Ashwin, who completed his maiden ten-wicket match haul, and Pragyan Ojha with plenty of composure, as the fact that the pitch held together nicely because it had been under covers for a long time and because the effect of the roller was negating any purchase the spinners might have got.
Unmukt Chand led India to World Cup glory at Tony Ireland Stadium, his side pulling off the highest successful chase at this venue to beat defending champions Australia in the final.

Google Image
India won by an innings and 115 runs, its spinners taking 18 of the 20 wickets to fall. New Zealand, following on in their second innings, were all out for 164 an hour before the scheduled close of play on Sunday, losing their last nine wickets for 66 runs.

At the top of the pile stood R Ashwin, who finished the game with his first ten-wicket bag in Tests, taking 6 for 54 in the second innings and a match tally of 12 for 85 - the best figures for an Indian bowler in Tests versus New Zealand.

The man who brought shudder and expectancy

It was always "chik", that sound from VVS Laxman's bat when it met ball; a gentle sound, barely audible, a pleasant meeting of two. Early in his career Laxman was the strokeplayer, revelling against pace, standing up to punch deliciously through cover, or merely pausing in the midst of what others might have called an off-drive, or even pulling through midwicket.Laxman is known for his "wristy, willowy and sinuous" style, one which is technically fluid at its best. Laxman's on-side playing capability is comparable with his fellow Hyderabadi Mohammed Azharuddin's.Laxman made his Test debut in 1996 against South Africa at Ahmedabad, scoring a fifty in the second innings of the match
It was March 1998 and Laxman opened the batting with Navjot Sidhu. He made 95 but that was the first time you saw him dance out to Shane Warne and play against the turn through midwicket; or rather against some perceived turn, because he was right where the ball pitched.
Laxman had something every cricketer dreams of: respect in his dressing room and in those of his opponents. And the opportunity to leave our game richer.Laxman's good form continued in the 2007/08 Test series against Australia with him scoring 109 against Australia on the second day of the controversial Sydney Test to put India back into the contest.

On 18 August 2012, Laxman announced his retirement from international cricket. Although he was selected for the upcoming New Zealand series, he opted not to play in the series but he will play in domestic cricket for Hyderabad and the Indian Premier League. It was announced that the Northern Stand at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium will now be named after him

"If you get Dravid, great. If you get Sachin, brilliant. If you get Laxman, it's a miracle.", Steve Waugh

Pujara’s first ton in four match of his career

Pujara’s first ton shows India’s future is bright

Cheteshwar Pujara notched up his maiden Test hundred to lead Indian first innings on Day 1 of the first Test against New Zealand at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on Thursday.

The man who comeback after injury and performed well in his first test match. for me this Pujara knock is more valuable in the absence of great legend Rahul Dravid and VVS Laxman he show some hope for Indian future cricket and how team is ready to cement the gap of two legend.

U-19 WORLD CUP

India dislodge Pakistan in heroic tale

Google Image VICTORY DANCE: India Under-19 all-rounder Harmeet Singh  against Pakistan
The Indian under-19 cricketers enjoyed the dominance over Pakistan. In fact, the Indian colts went into their quarterfinal clash against Pakistan in Townsville (Australia) on Monday with the dubious record of having lost five of their last six World Cup matches.
The Boys in Blue walked out of the ground celebrating, having sealed a one-wicket victory to make the semifinals of the World Cup. The 10th wicket partnership of 10 runs between Harmeet Singh and Sandeep Sharma proved crucial in the low-scoring encounter as the Indians struggled to get past Pakistan’s modest total of 136.
Skipper Unmukt Chand put the win on destiny. “The win came as a huge relief. It got too close for comfort. the players took their minds off serious talk and celebrated their hard-fought win

Laxman was a tough character, says Dravid

Google Image
When VVS Laxman was announcing his retirement in Hyderabad on Saturday evening, a lot of people were wondering where the man with whom he had shared so many fine and important partnerships was. Rahul Dravid was, unfortunately, stuck on a flight at that very point, somewhere between London and Bangalore. Laxman had perhaps, for once in his life, got the timing wrong and couldn’t have Dravid beside him when he told the world his time was up. TOI

“We had spoken a few times after I had retired but I must admit that I was a little surprised at the timing (of the decision to quit), in the sense that he had been selected for the Tests against New Zealand,” Dravid

Dravid always rated Laxman’s ability with the bat very high and he minced no words on that. “He is the one of the finest batsmen India has produced. Someone who I always thought had a very tough character. He simply loved challenges, loved a contest,” said Dravid. “He was known as a nice guy and while the opponents too knew that, they also knew he was a gutsy cricketer with a tough streak about him.”

Veteran Indian batsman Manipulative Laxman announced his retirement from international cricket

Google Image

Laxman decided to call it a day even though he was included in the Indian squad for the two-Test series against New Zealand starting in front of home fans in Hyderabad on Thursday.
Laxman was retained for the Kiwi matches despite failing miserably in the last two Test series in England and Australia, both of which India lost 4-0 and were dethroned as the number one side.
"I have always kept my country's success and need ahead of my personal aspirations. And while I would love contributing to the team's success, especially against England and Australia, I think this is the right to give opportunity to the youngsters in home conditions ahead of international assignments", Laxman said.

Reactions flow in after Laxman's retirement

Google Image

Seniormost batsman Sachin Tendulkar feels that VVS Laxman's void in the Indian team will be difficult to fulfill and he will miss the Hyderabadi stylist who announced his retirement with immediate effect.
Sourav Ganguly, who has shared the Indian dressing room with Laxman for more than decade recollected the epic knock of 281 at the Eden Gardens.

Dravid expect Sachin to perform well

Former India captain Rahul Dravid on Tuesday hoped that Sachin Tendulkar would continue to shoulder responsibility in his and VVS Laxman's absence during the upcoming India-New Zealand series beginning on August 23 in Hyderabad.

Trademark Personal advantage throws Pietersen's future in doubt: Cricket

Pietersen was axed after a dramatic week that started with allegations he sent text messages to South African players containing derogatory comments about English captain Andrew Strauss and coach Andy Flower.
Kevin Pietersen has been dropped from England's squad for the third Test against South Africa after the controversy.
"The video I released was my way to bring closure to the issues I had at that time. I had an emotional time at Headingley but I stand by every word I said in the video."

"The fact is I love England, and I love cricket."(Google Image)

Pietersen's refusal to follow the team-first ethos that Strauss and Flower have been so determined to implement eventually proved too much for the selectors and even some of his teammates. The 32-year-old, who had just scored a superb century in the drawn second test against South Africa at Headingley, followed that bombshell by claiming he was ready to leave the sport because of what he perceived as problems in the England squad. swann came in for KP.
The account was eventually closed down, with Pietersen adding: "The fact is I love England, and I love cricket."
